Congratulations on choosing Cornwall as a place to visit.

Holywell Bay Cornwall

It is no secret that our beautiful Cornwall is one of the most visited destinations in the UK. It is a cliché but there really is so much to see, do and experience that you will be planning your next visit before you have even arrived!

Here at Cornwall Holiday Retreats it is our aim to make sure that you have the best possible experience with us from the moment you collect your keys and walk through the door of one of our wonderful properties.

Once you have settled in you will probably want to know more about what Bodmin and our locality has to offer. As all our favourite attractions begin to reopen safely, and events slowly come back, we will suggest a few of our local attractions here, but watch this space as we give you as much information as we can following lockdown. Our sole aim is for you to enjoy Cornwall Holiday Retreats so much, that you will want to return again and again.

PLEASE NOTE: PREBOOKING for most activities will most probably be standard in the short to midterm following Covid-19, so do bear that in mind before you plan your visit to Bodmin.

So what makes Cornwall Holiday Retreats and Bodmin Moor, Cornwall so special?

Our most popular activity?

Walking Holidays on Bodmin moor are without doubt one of the biggest reasons why visitors and tourists come to Cornwall. Whether you are looking to do a self-guided walking tour of the stunning moors, or source a local guide to show you some hidden gems of this breath taking landscape, getting away from it all, Bodmin and its surrounding area will very much leave you with an appetite to return year after year. The “Great Bodmin and Cornwall Outdoors” is waiting.

The Jamaica Inn

Otherwise known as “Cornwall’s most famous smuggling inn” we highly recommend a visit to this Bodmin landmark. Whether you want to enjoy a nice beverage before or after your walk, or want to enjoy an atmospheric dining experience, this well-loved inn, offers the very best hospitality to guests. The inn is also well known as the setting for Daphe du Maurier’s novel of the same name, and a final word of warning……..for years there have been ongoing stories of paranormal activities at Jamaica inn. Visit at your peril! www.jamaicainn.co.uk

The Eden Project

Without doubt, The Eden Project is probably one of Cornwall’s most visited destination.  An incredible sight, massive biomes house the largest rainforest in captivity, stunning plants, contemporary gardens and much much more is here to discover. Located just 20 minutes away from Cornwall Holiday Retreats, a visit here is a must. Vistors to the Eden Project must pre-book for timed entry tickets up to September 5th 2021. www.edenproject.com

Keep , Cornwall’s Army Museum – Approx. 8 miles door to door

Opening safely on May 19th, “Bodmin keep” is all out keeping the nation’s military heritage alive and well through entertaining and educational exhibits, collections and stories. www.bodminkeep.org

Bodmin & Wenford Railway – Approx. 7 miles door to door

The Bodmin & Wenford Railway will get back on track on May 18th after a third lockdown. The track is just over 6 miles long and runs from Bodmin Parkway through to Boscarne Junction via the line’s principal station at Bodmin General where all trains reverse. This beautiful 2 hour journey by steam train is a most relaxing way to enjoy Cornwall’s countryside and we expect that it will be a very popular attraction this year as we all get back to normal. Booking is advised.

The most important thing is that you don’t visit Cornwall, you enjoy and experience it to the max. Our best advice to you is to get out into the great outdoors, walk, kayak, surf, laugh, eat and create lots of memories. www.bodminrailway.co.uk
